ICANN Board Approval Opens Internet To Many New Domains | Intellectual Property Watch

This is kind of old news now, but I think it’s particularly interesting for what it will do to competition for domain names. It also reflects the rise in search engines organizing the internet rather than DNS tables; when you can have hundreds of variants on shoestore.com, the search engines organizing the differences between each instance become increasingly important.
